Hydrographics, also known as water transfer printing, immersion printing or hydro dipping, is the process of applying a design to a 3 dimensional item. Hydrographic films can be applied to metal, plastics, hard woods, glass and various other substrates.

The product to be dipped is first pre-treated and then a base coat will be applied. The film that contains the desired image will be placed onto a surface of water. An activator is then applied and the film dissolves into a liquid form. The product to be dipped is then lowered into the water through the liquified film layer, which then wraps around and adheres itself to the product. Once the product is removed from the water, it goes through a rinse process and then a topcoat is applied to further protect the look of the finished product.
